Conference Overview
This session explores neurodiversity through both cultural research and lived experience, asking how different societies recognize, value, or overlook neurodivergent traits. By combining workplace, parenting, and inclusion perspectives, the event encourages a broader and more human conversation about belonging.
Sophie Lambert
Ph.D. in Social and Cultural Psychology
Sophie leads HR at Unia, Belgium's Interfederal Center for Equal Opportunities. As a scientific collaborator at ULB, she studies how cultural norms shape perceptions of neurodiversity. She also co-founded Chingu to promote Korean culture and intercultural understanding.
Topic: Beyond Neurodiversity: How National Culture Influences ADHD at Work
This talk looks at how cultural context shapes what kinds of ADHD-related traits are noticed, rewarded, or misunderstood at work. By comparing Belgium and South Korea, it invites participants to think about how workplace expectations are never culturally neutral.
Hwee Peng Tan
Author of 2x award-winning book "How to Be A Neuro-affirmative Parent"
Hwee Peng is an author and advocate who shares her expertise in raising neurodivergent children. In 2024, she received a UK scholarship to study as a Neuro-affirmative Workplace Practitioner.
Topic: Bridging Authentic Minds: Building Neuro-Affirming Workplaces
This session focuses on what it takes to build workplaces that genuinely support different ways of thinking. Rather than treating neurodiversity as a problem to manage, it encourages participants to consider how neuro-affirming environments can improve both belonging and performance.
